About Us
Captain Chris Freed has been fiberglassing since
1992, when he began working for Twoogood Kayaks
in Kailua. This was Chris's introduction to mold
technology and composite production. Chris has
also honed his skills working for John Martin
Canoes in Kaneohe during the mid 90's. Capt. Chris
Freed has shaped and glassed over 2,000 surfboards
since 1996 under the Freed label. The first rebuild
project was the Ho'omama in 2000. This was a total
rebuild from the stringers up and a straight shaft
Cummins repower. During this project, Chris
apprenticed under Greg Powell of Marisco, in
Awlgrip spray finishing.
